Framed by the old-world charm of the British Era hotel and Mussoorie’s ethereal mountain vistas, Vinita Asser and Kushal Dalmia’s wedding unfolded with a touch of whimsy and a whole lot of love. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Whistling Teel, the intimate destination getaway was bedecked with fresh floral decor and unlimited fun, every moment of which was immortalized by Weddingsutra Favorite – Dreamcatchers Photography.
How they met
It all started with a “swipe right”! Vinita and Kushal met online through a dating app, and had their first date in a dog park where they bonded over their mutual love for dogs! Coincidentally, they also had some very close common friends, and when they found out that they had matched with each other on the app, they instantly told them to look no further. Talk about “made for each other”!
The Proposal
Vinita shares, “The proposal happened on a beautiful sandy beach in Cancun, Mexico. We had gone down there for a trip and Kushal had worked with the hotel to reserve a portion of the beach for a private dinner. The beach was decorated with flowers, fire, and a giant “I Love You” sign. As I took all of this in, Kushal went down on his knee and popped the question in the form of a poem. It was an instant yes from me!”
Wedding Planning
The couple wanted a venue that was unique and special, not just for them but also for their friends and family. After scouting a few locations, they fell in love with Welcomhotel By ITC Hotels, The Savoy in Mussoorie. Nestled in the mountains, the beautiful property looked like a fairytale. They entrusted the team of Whistling Teel with the task of bringing their dream wedding to life.
Team Dreamcatchers Photography was brought on board to capture the magic of every moment. Reflecting on the experience, Vinita shares, “Working with Dreamcatchers was one of the highlights of our wedding. From the beginning, they made us really comfortable, and we felt like our friends were capturing the event. Punit and his team were extremely flexible and worked with our schedule and timings. Their professionalism and dedication were appreciated by all our guests and the pictures and videos we got in the end were full of beautiful snippets of the wedding. We could not have asked for a better set of people to work with.”
Wedding Functions
Haldi
The first event was a carnival-themed Haldi function in the Beer Garden, full of color, food, dance, and game stalls. The emcee kept the guests super entertained with fun games and competitions and everyone had a blast. The weather, music, and cocktails ensured that it was a high-energy occasion with lots of fun and dancing.
Sangeet
Hosted indoors, the Sangeet was imagined with the theme of “Black & Bling”. The event was hosted by close friends of Kushal and Vinita, who took the audience on an amazing journey filled with anecdotes, jokes, and of course, dance performances. Close friends and family put some incredible dances together which ensured everyone was on their feet and swinging to the beat. The revelries continued with a high octane after party.
Wedding
The wedding was a romantic garden affair in pink and white. The guests decked up in their finest traditional clothes as the clouds gathered over the occasion, blessing the couple in their moment of union. The mandap was decorated with branches of colorful flowers and a giant “Tree of Life” hung with crystals, setting an ambiance of serenity and whimsy. The ceremony was immediately followed by a melodious performance from Sharmaji and the Happy Factory. Their music and a spectacular food spread kept everyone swaying and warm on the chilly Mussoorie evening.
Advice for couples
“One of the best tips our friends gave us was to enjoy the wedding and not get lost in the planning, details, or execution. We really loved every moment of those few days and will cherish those memories forever.”
