Viranchi and Abhishek, Sea Queen Beach Resort & Spa, Goa
A “Two States” wedding! This multic-cultural Goa wedding saw a memorable mix of stunning decor and heartfelt traditions.
Framed against the tropical beauty of Goa, Viranchi and Abhishek’s wedding was not just a celebration of their journey of love, but also the coming together of their families and distinct cultures, WeddingSutra Favorite – Happyframes Photography captured the nuances of their bond and their festivities in striking shots.
How they met
The couple come from distinct cultures and regions in India. While Punjabi-born Viranchi hails from Bikaner, Bangalore-based Abhishek is a Tamil Brahmin. Working as technical professionals in Boston, the two trace a journey that celebrates the coming together of not just two lives, but two cultures. The story unfolded while both were working at Dell Technologies, Bangalore. Abhishek shares, “We initially spoke when Viranchi was about to join my team, but Destiny had other plans and she ended up joining another team. After two years, we met through a mutual friend again. There, Viranchi broke the news that she was leaving for Canada to pursue her MBA, and that took me by surprise. It sparked a connection between us like we had known each other for years, and from there our relationship and bond grew. We went on a couple of dates before she departed, and we realized the ease we had with each other was special.”
Viranchi adds “Thus began our four-year long-distance romance. We did cute little things to keep our relationship strong and secure, such as meeting every year in Goa to spend time together, discovering hidden gems, and building memories that we could treasure for a year until we met again. Abhishek also moved to the United States to pursue his Master’s degree, so we could be closer. Every weekend, he would drive to Toronto to meet me. After 4 long years of dating, we decided that it was time to take our relationship to the next level. Fortunately, I fought my way via Amazon to relocate from Toronto to Boston. We stood by each other and the relationship, navigating all the turbulent waters to get to where we are today. It has been a beautiful ride with many ups and downs, but we finally made it!”
The Proposal
It had always been their desire to have a proposal with skyscrapers in the background. On October 14th, 2023, Abhishek chose to pop the question to Viranchi with a surprise proposal in Toronto by the lake with the iconic CN Tower in the background. It was a wonderfully decorated site, complete with a large red heart and candles to make it a memorable occasion.
Wedding Planning
Goa holds a really special place in their hearts, as it was their annual vacation spot throughout their long-distance relationship. So while shortlisting destinations for the wedding, Viranchi and Abhishek just had one thing in mind – a beach wedding in Goa! After going through several resorts and hotels in Goa, they chose Sea Queen Beach Resort and Spa and entrusted the team of Dreamknots to plan and orchestrate the celebrations.
Their special moments were captured by Team Happyframes Photography. Talking about the experience, they share “It was a fantastic collaboration. Preeti and her team were so accommodating, professional, and a lot of fun. It was so easy to work with them. They were open to our ideas and shared what they felt would work the best. The splendid pictures say it all.”
Wedding Functions
Haldi and Mehndi
The festivities kicked off on a lively note with a Carnival-themed Haldi and Mehndi soiree. Pastel, candy hues enveloped the occasion with streamers, patterned linen, and an abundance of flowers. Imagined with a stunning floral arch and large 3D organza blooms, the couple’s seating took the cake with his breathtaking beauty. The guests all wore off-white, while the couple stood out in hues of pink and blue.
Cocktail
The evening revved up with the excitement of a boho-glam Sangeet. Imagined in earthy tones with pops of fiery red, the rustic decor saw tons of pampas grass, dried palms, candles, wicker lamps, teepees, and fairy lights, while disco balls and hanging crystal birds added a glitzy, whimsical touch to the occasion. The couple and their loved ones spent the night grooving to rousing music and partied into the night.
Tamil Wedding
The next morning began on a tranquil note with the couple’s Tamil wedding ceremony. Drapes and linen in pristine white set a serene ambiance for the garden wedding, while local blooms and foliage like marigolds, roses, rajnigandha, and banana leaves lent to the traditional grace of the space. A beautiful statue of Lord Ganesha greeted the guests, welcoming them to the auspicious occasion.
