Vrinda and Gaurav, Nandi Greens, New Delhi
This pink and white open wedding mandap with lotus blooms looked right at home at this couple’s garden wedding.
Vringa Monga, the owner of maternity wear brand Bump Loving and Gaurav Sareen’s wedding was an expression of the couple’s love for Indian traditions paired perfectly with new-age designs. Planned and designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Soiree Edit, the union used a variety of hues and decor elements to craft a vivid celebration.
How They Met
The groom says, “We’ve known each other for around 10 years. We were acquaintances and had been dating other people. While I was in New York, we’d occasionally speak and somehow we met during every trip I made back home. On one of my trips back to India, egged on by her friends, Vrinda confessed she had a soft spot for me via a text message. She refused to talk to me after that! It took us a while, but we eventually spoke about it and started seeing each other.”
The Proposal
Gaurav planned a romantic proposal on one of their many trips together. He says, “Vrinda had never seen the Taj Mahal so I surprised her with a trip to Agra and proposed to her while we were visiting the monument.”
Wedding Planning
With The Soiree Edit at the helm ensuring that everything fell perfectly in place, the union went ahead seamlessly. Keeping in mind the couple’s preferences and adding their creativity into the mix to amplify the beauty of the celebrations, the planning team was continuously on their toes as they looked carefully into every detail.
Wedding Venue
The bride and groom hosted their wedding at Nandi Greens in New Delhi. Talking about the location and their service, Gaurav says, “They’re the best in the business and served us exquisite food for a full 12 hours!”
Wedding Functions
Haldi
The ceremony to kickstart the wedding celebrations was the haldi. The decor was primarily in yellow, reminiscent of a bright summer morning. Streamers of yellow and white flowers created the perfect backdrop for the ceremony, as guests lined up to smear the bride’s and groom’s faces with turmeric.
Mehndi
The Soiree Edit team shares, “The couple wanted something fun and colourful with dashes of traditional mehendi elements such as the marigold flowers. However, the framing and structures that we created with the flowers were unique and modern. The pinwheels added a fun carnival-like element to the event. It was a sundowner and, thankfully, the pleasant weather was perfect for an outdoor celebration! The predominant colours used were blue and orange. Other decor elements, like, gotawork hangings, dreamcatchers and fabric tassels were used to give a desi touch to the celebrations.”
Wedding
Recollecting the lotus-themed wedding, The Soiree Edit Team shares, “The wedding theme was centred around lotus motifs, which were used in various ways – lotus at the end of the floral garlands were used to create the chandelier at the open vedi, lotuses were used in the centrepieces for the tables, lotus print fabric used for cladding and for table covers, cushions, seating upholstery, etc. Along with this, we also used gota and fabric tassels along with rajnigandha flowers. Since it was a day wedding with the pheras scheduled for noon, the couple chose shades of pink and white. The pheras were immediately followed by the reception party which lasted until midnight as everyone danced the night away!”
Advice for couples
“Leave the planning to your family and live in the moment!”
