Geetika and Thanuj – Greece
From volcanic beaches to vow yacht cruises, Geetika and Thanuj's 10-day honeymoon in sunny Santorini was high on relaxation and refreshing experiences
Geetika and Thanuj first met in 2013. They were both working as colleagues in Frankfurt, Germany and over time, became best friends, fell in love and tied the knot. After two wedding ceremonies – one in Kolkata according to Malayali rituals, and the other in Jalandhar according to Punjabi rituals, the couple travelled to Greece for their 10-day honeymoon in October this year. They are currently based in Switzerland.
Honeymoon Planning
Geetika shares, “After living in Germany and traveling to many European cities, we decided to go to Greece for its beautiful beaches, delicious food and breathtaking sunsets.”
Honeymoon Highlights
The couple stayed at Ira Hotel & Spa in Santorini. Situated on a cliff, overlooking the beautiful blue Aegean Sea, this property is known for its great facilities, exquisite views and impeccable service.
The couple also travelled to Athens and Mykonos. “We witnessed a beautiful sunset aboard a yacht cruise,” recalls Geetika. They also hired professional photographers George and Sia to capture their beautiful memories for a lifetime, and the photos capture do full justice to the beautiful location and happy couple.
Best Meal
According to Geetika, the best restaurant in Santorini was the popular Ambrosia which offers an amazing view from its terrace. “However best meal we had was at the Mammo Wine & Food Bar in Syros.” Famous for its Mediterranean fusion fare, this restaurant in front of the Syros Port also served exquisite cocktails which Geetika relished.
Advice to couples
“During sunset, the Oia village can get very crowded so make sure you head to your viewing spot or sea-facing restaurant early. You will remember the beautiful sunsets here your whole life. A yacht cruise will take you to the beaches that are colorful with red and black volcanic pebbles.”
Must Experience
“Couples must experience heavenly sunsets and wine tasting in the vineyards. We also recommend a lunch cruise where you dine in the middle of the sea and also welcome the sunset in a calm and tranquil way,” shares Geetika.
