After a whirlwind romance and a dream wedding, Natasha and Shekhar kept the magic going with a romantic Maldivian honeymoon replete with all the luxuries and exclusive activities the destination had to offer. Read on to know more.
How You Met
Natasha shares, “Our wedding story couldn’t have been more filmy. Although our families have known each other for about 20 odd years, Shekhar and I first laid eyes on each other when they set us up together. Needless to say, it was love at first sight. It felt like we had known each other for years and we ended up talking for hours that day. We had a courtship period of about 9 months, and by the time our wedding date came around, we were inseparable.”
Honeymoon Planning
She continues, “We have both always had Maldives as our destination of choice for our honeymoon as we wanted to travel less and focus more on leisure. We planned a stay of around 10-11 nights so we could unwind post the wedding frenzy and truly enjoy everything Maldives has to offer. Most of our activities and excursions were planned beforehand so we could enjoy our stay hasslefree. The Virlib Tours helped us to plan the perfect honeymoon in Maldives.”
Honeymoon Highlights
The couple wanted to make the most of their trip to Maldives and savor novel experiences that the popular destination has to offer, and so they opted for a deluxe water pool villa at Niyama Private Islands Resort. Natasha shares, “With a picturesque location, pristine clear waters, gorgeous photo points, exciting activities and sumptuous food that included a lot of options for the Indian palette, Niyama was truly ‘Nature’s Playground’. Our villa was amazing, and included an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, a private lagoon access and a deck with a lot of sitting areas from where we enjoyed the beautiful Maldivian sunrises and sunsets in each others’ arms. We also had a personal butler or ‘Thakuru’ who ensured that our stay was relaxed and smooth. We had a lot of fun cycling to different spots on the twin islands, lazing out in the swings at the Surf Shack, basking in the sun on the beautiful white sandy beaches and enjoying long romantic walks all around the resort. We also enjoyed a lot of wonderful activities tailor-made for us like destination dinners, private screening of movies under the stars on the beach, a private sunset cruise, floating breakfast in our private pool, private painting session on the beach, adventure sports like seabob and more!
We also wanted to have professional photos clicked in Maldives, and Niyama helped us realize our dream by offering us photoshoot options from their own Niyama Snap Studio. Thanks to them, we have beautiful photos to relive our gorgeous memories.”
Most romantic moment
“The entire honeymoon was of course really romantic for both of us. However, the most romantic and memorable experience has to be the sunset cruise where we had the whole boat to ourselves, and the staff had set up some mattresses for us on the top deck. We enjoyed champagne and canapes against the mesmerizing sunset backdrop as we sailed in the beautiful Indian ocean. We just lay there holding hands, soaking in the beautiful views and reminiscing our journey from the first meeting to being there together. The setting sun, soft ocean breeze, rising moon and twinkling stars combined to cast a surreal glow over the evening, like the whole universe was blessing our love.”

“Something that differentiates Maldives from other beach honeymoon destinations is the stunning water villa experience which should be on everyone’s list. Floating breakfast in your private pool is another experience which you absolutely should not skip. Bespoke dinners and movie experiences on the beach are incredibly memorable. Additionally, if your resort offers it, go for professional photos. They really help preserve your memories forever.”

“Only try a new cuisine if you have a preference for it or you like trying new things. Otherwise it is better to stick to the food of your liking. Also, if budget is a constraint, I would suggest avoiding water sports as they can be enjoyed elsewhere as well. Instead, focus on experiences you cannot get anywhere else.”

“If it’s possible, then I’d suggest avoiding the rainy season, so you can make the most of your planned activities, as the majority of them are bound to be outdoors.”
