Sonali Walia and Amit Mehan – Thailand
WeddingSutra’s ‘Win a dream holiday in Thailand’ contest winners, Sonali and Amit share their experience of a terrific trip to Thailand
It is not often that you win a luxurious trip to Thailand – but Sonali Walia and Amit Mehan sure did. The lovely couple were the winners of WeddingSutra’s ‘Win a dream holiday in Thailand’ contest which saw them enjoying a romantic sojourn at the luxurious Belmond Napasai Resort in Koh Samui.
Sonali Walia first heard about WeddingSutra’s ‘Win a dream holiday in Thailand’ contest through her friend Vaijayanti Varma who coaxed her into applying for it. “A lot of people apply for such contests. I just applied to try my luck.” Her happiness knew no bounds when she discovered that she (and her husband) were the lucky couple who were not only selected as a winners of the contest but had also had been awarded complimentary return tickets from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Bangkok Airways. “I got an email stating that I had won and the authorities wanted my documents for proof. At first, I didn’t believe it. In fact, it took me several days to register the fact that I had won.”
The stay at the Belmond Napasai Hotel in Koh Samui
Spread over a sprawling 17-acres, the luxurious beachfront Belmond Napasai Hotel lies on the north coast of Thailand’s charming island of Koh Samui. Exuding an authentic Thai vibe from the décor to the service, the hotel also has its own private beach and infinity pool.
This resort-like property includes spacious rooms and villas alongside tropical gardens filled with lush trees and tropical blooms. Sonali shares, “The best surprise was our room which was a built like a chalet and offered spectacular views of the beach and the ocean. Everything was so pretty and romantic, and I must say that the food at the restaurant was delicious. We got to spend some quality time with each other here, which we will always reminisce about in the years to come.”
Thailand highlights
Both Sonali and Amit, who are part-time travellers, are extremely adventurous by nature and during their stay in Thailand they made the most of the many activities and experiences on offer. “We explored Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui and went snorkeling at five islands. We also attended a full-moon party at Koh Phangan and finally ticked off some of our most anticipated dreams from our travel checklist,” says Sonali.
