Amarinder and Inderpreet, California
This gorgeous Punjabi-Sikh wedding saw a plethora of heartwarming traditions embellished with a touch of modern flair.
After six years of courtship, San Francisco based Tech professional Amarinder Kaur Syan and Inderpreet Singh Dhanoa celebrated their journey from being college sweethearts to life partners with a beautiful Punjabi-Sikh wedding. The bride shared a few glimpses of the magical experience with us.
How they met
The bride shares, “Inderpreet and me first met during my second year of college, at a random night out with friends in Cleveland, New York. Inderpreet was soon recruited for our Bhangra team, and our friendship quickly developed over rehearsals and dance competitions, and evolved over time into love. Soon after graduation, he started traveling for work and I moved on to Grad School. Amidst two years of long distance courting, we formalized our love with an engagement, and then right after, we tied the knot!
Wedding Planning
The couple entrusted the task of planning and executing their Punjabi-Sikh wedding to the team of The Marigold Company. They envisioned a dreamy wedding that was a blend of royal and rustic aesthetics which their wedding planners brought to life perfectly. The festivities were captured in beautiful shots by Lin & Jirsa Photography.
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
The festivities began with an intimate Mehendi ceremony for the bride. For her henna, she included references to her birthplace Cleveland (New York City), her cat, family names and other charming personal tidbits.
Sangeet
The Sangeet night was designed with all the charm and merriment of a traditional Punjabi Sangeet. Colorful drapes, charpaais, umbrellas, stools, dancing and dhols added to the cheerful, rustic vibe. The groom looked stately in a royal blue and beige attire while the bride opted for a mint and orange ensemble. Their friends performed a skit of how the two met, complete with dialogue and soundtrack, which was a huge hit!
Haldi
The haldi function was a hearty, home celebration with the couple’s loved ones. Yellow and red drapes set a vibrant backdrop while a smattering of colorful pillows and props added to the quirky ambience, as the bride and groom were smeared with turmeric paste as per tradition.
Wedding
The auspicious Anand Karaj was held at the beautiful Gurudwara atop the lush evergreen hills in San José. Dainty spring décor with peach and blush hues added extra charm to the tranquil ceremony. The couple wore regal outfits in peach tones, similar to the chosen wedding color palette for the ceremony, which was captured in a mesmerizing live painting by the talented Talia Koval.
Reception
The festivities came to a stunning conclusion with a rustic-chic Reception ceremony. The elegant white décor of flowers and drapes added a magical contrast to the dark, wooden and rustic aesthetics of the winery. The bride’s rich navy and gold lehenga perfectly complemented the groom’s tuxedo, as they danced, cut the cake and rejoiced with their family.
A late night order of pizza and fresh glazed donuts made the party even more memorable.
