A lush country club in New Jersey got a vibrant look as Keta and Vaibhav's traditional Indian wedding unfolded there with colorful festivities and ethnic decor.
Vaibhav and Keta’s charming and intimate wedding was largely planned by friends and family. From a traditional Indian ceremony to a minimalist and modern reception, every function was meticulously designed keeping the couple’s tastes in mind. WeddingSutra Favorite – Divine Mantra captured the special moments of the wedding. Here, Bride Keta shares some highlights of her big day.
How We Met
“Vaibhav and I met more than 10 years ago. We were introduced to each other through common friends. I am a physiologist while he is into the stock market. Since we are such different people, we never thought we could be a match. However, here we are, a married couple now!”
Wedding Venue
“We got married at Knoll Country Club in New Jersey. We didn’t want to host the wedding at a location that was too far away from our family and friends here since we’re already away from most of them who are not in the US. The club was fairly convenient to reach and was gorgeous!”
Wedding Planning
“We’ve lived here most of our lives and have created a small society of our own. Therefore, our wedding was put together piece by piece by all the people who we have known – be it my makeup artist, the choreographer or even our photographers! Everything went so smoothly and it felt as if everyone was there to be a part of the wedding too aside from providing services. This made everything so much fun! Abhishek of Abhishek Decorators, who we knew through a friend, took care of our decor. He decided to keep the affair extremely simple since both Vaibhav and I are very minimalistic. The team at Divine Mantra was the one who captured all the precious moments from our wedding. They were with us throughout without being obtrusive at all, and their work was just stunning!”
Wedding Functions
Haldi
“Lots of bright colors were incorporated into our setup for the haldi, and we made use of vibrant drapes too. At the photo booth, we had a frame made of fresh flowers for our guests to pose with and have fun. I wore a yellow lehenga which I paired with floral jewellery and Vaibhav wore a yellow kurta.”
Wedding
“For the wedding, we opted for very traditional Indian decor. Red and golden were the colors that were seen across all the elements of the setup. Rich drapes and lots of Ganesh idols were evocative of celebrations in India. We mixed this with fresh white flowers and fairy lights to add a subtle Western touch. I was a bride in red, and Vaibhav opted for a cream sherwani with maroon and golden details.”
Reception
“The look and feel of everything at the reception, right from our clothes to the decor, was very modern. White drapes and fairy lights were used to decorate the ceiling while crystal flowers and branches served as table centerpieces. We went with a white and golden wedding cake that was in line with the elegant setup. For this function, I wore a cream and pink lehenga and Vaibhav wore a contemporary black sherwani.”
