Fazaa Shroff

Advocate Fazaa Shroff married businessman Anirudh Garg at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai. The daughter of renowned advocate Parimal Shroff, Fazaa works with noted advocate Mrinalini Deshmukh. The newly-weds live at Nepean Sea Road, Mumbai. Their pre and post wedding functions included pujas and parties at residences, a Ghazal evening at Blue Sea, Sangeet at the Shroff farm house and a grand Reception.

Says Fazaa: …Planning your wedding looks is not about figuring out what youre going to wear for the different functions‚its how you want to feel when you walk in. I spent a lot of time with makeup maestro Cory Walia deciding on a unique look for each function‚so I was a Mughal Princess at the Sangeet, a Serene Beauty at the Traditional Wedding, Dazzling Diva at the Ghazal evening, and a Confident Belle at the Reception.

Subtly Elegant

For the Cocktail at a family friends house in Malabar Hill, Fazaa wore a blue chiffon gown by Seema Khan. …This was the only Western outfit I wore for the wedding functions; I wanted a long, flowy gown, simple and elegant with no embellishments. Seema put together a very elegant yet under-stated look.

The Dazzling Diva

For the Ghazal evening Fazaa wore a pink, fuschia and orange Swarovski encrusted lehenga, with a net dupatta and backless choli. Her look was inspired by yesteryear actress Vimmis on-screen look– big mascara, no bindi and fake eyelashes. She teamed this with a diamonds, emeralds and pearl jewellery set from A.K. Motiwala, the Bandra based Jewellers for a contrast look as she wanted to break away from the norm of matchy-matchy jewellery.

Mughal Princess

For the Sangeet, makeup maestro Cory Walia gave Fazaa an extremely unusual look with a long braided plait, a stunning gold parandi from Punjab and a Paasa to enhance the Mughal look. Says Fazaa: …As I am a classical dancer I wanted my footwork to be seen when Id dance with my family and friends, so I opted for the less obvious choice, an Anarkali. I wore two outfits for the Sangeet‚a green floor length anarkali with a velvet jacket and net sleeves. I then changed into a two-piece beige and pink saree for the post-sangeet meet and greet. And again the look for that was different– the plait was removed and the paasa was replaced by a maangtika and long flowing curls. Both the outfits were made by designer Manju Gupta, a family friend who runs Panache, a boutique near Metro Cinema.

Serene Beauty

For the Hindu Saptapadi wedding, ace designer Sabyasachi created for Fazaa two sarees inspired by the Gharchola and Paanetar. Says Fazaa: …When I walked into Sabyas store in Kala Ghoa, I was lucky to find him there‚and he sat with me and sketched the look for my wedding saree combining borders from 2-3 different sarees. A white tussar silk saree with a gold antique border and sabudana work which I wore as the saree, and another red saree with white embroidery, draped as a veil over my head. And since the veil was net my beautiful bun hairstyle with fresh flowers around it was visible. The jhadtar jewelery she wore was exquisite‚a traditional choker and a long necklace, both heirloom pieces, and pochas in both hands.

Confident Belle

For the reception, Fazaa wore a Tarun Tahiliani lehenga with gold gota work; the lehenga had a sunset coloured theme (from red and orange on the net dupatta to orange and yellow on the lehenga). For a contrast look, she wore diamond jewellery from A.K. Motiwala. Says Fazaa: …I come from an era of watching Walt Disney cartoons and those beautiful puffed up gowns which all the Disney Princesses wore made my heart yearn for one just like it. My lehenga was just perfect with the right amount of cancan.

Even Ritu Kumar, Samsaara, Seasons and Satya Paul have nice merchandise you just have to be lucky to find the best stuff when you visit the store.
5. Im not a great fan of shoes and bags with Indian embroideries. For all the occasions, I wore shoes by Jimmy Choo and Gucci, since they score highest on the style as well as comfort factor. For bags I visited Delhis DLF Emporio‚it has all the brands under one roof so choosing was easier. LVs, Guccis, Fendis and Diors are more my style as I prefer big totes and satchels to evening clutches.
