Shilpa Kapoor went in for the GM Diet a few months
before marriage. She details the procedures of the diet with a difference
The
best thing about the GM Diet is that it's short, convenient and not too
rigorous. You don't need the expert advice of a dietician or fitness instructor
to follow the diet. All you have to do is follow the rules of the 7-day
ritual. And in all probability you'll be happy with the results. GM Diet
allows you to eat only one or two items each day, but you have the luxury
of eating as much quantity as you like. But that's no cause for elation
if you're planning a crash diet. Coz there's lots more to it.
Day
One
What you have to do:
Give your system a good spring-cleaning and prepare it for the hardships
of the days ahead. Fruits serve this purpose well. They are not just cleansers
but they also provide most of the vital ingredients necessary
to sustain life.
What you are allowed to eat:
Eat any fruit except bananas. Try and eat a lot of watermelon. You could
end up losing as much as 3 lbs on the 1st day itself!
Day Two
What you have to do:
Cleanse your system with fibre - with a zero-calorie, high-fibre, high-nutrition
diet. Start your day with a mixture of complex carbohydrates and a dose
of oil for energy and balance.

What you are allowed to eat:
All types of vegetables, cooked or raw (except potatoes). But remember
to eat well, till you are stuffed to the gills.
Day Three
What you have to do:
Consume carbohydrates, fibre and other nutrition without adding too many
calories. Your system is now ready to start burning the excess pounds.
Your cravings for particular foods (like sweets) will continue, but it
will diminish by day four.
What you are allowed to eat:
A mixture of fruits and vegetables of your choice (except for bananas
and potatoes). There's not limited on the quantity.
Day Four
What you have to do:
Restock your body with potassium and sodium salts, which depleted over
the last three days. At this stage, there is a definite loss of desire
for sweets.
What you are allowed to eat:
Bananas and milk. Eight bananas and up to three glasses of milk would
be the right quantity. Combine this with large quantities of the special
GM soup (Cabbage Soup).
Day Five
What you have to do:
Stock up on iron and proteins. Cleanse the system of the large amounts
of uric acid that you will produce on this diet. Drink lots and lots of
water.
What you are allowed to eat:
Beef
and tomatoes. And if you're a vegetarian, paneer is the alternative. The
required intake is 500 gms of lean beef (or five quarter-pounders) and
six tomatoes. You don't need to finish the entire quantity of beef. But
you have to eat all the tomatoes.
Day Six
What you have to do:
Gain iron and proteins from meat, and vitamins and fibre from veggies.
By now you are motivated and confident of shedding the extra flab. A close
look into the mirror will reveal the outcome of this diet.
What you are allowed to eat:
Unlimited amounts of beef, and unlimited amounts of veggies. The veggies
can opt for paneer instead of beef.
Day Seven
What you have to do:
Complete with the cleansing which you began a week back.
What
you are allowed to eat:
Brown rice, fruit juices and as much vegetables you can consume.
