More than 11,000 invitees from around the world descended at Sahara Shaher, the
imposing township of Sahara India in Lucknow.

The pre-wedding functions were held at Swapna Kuti, the grand residence of Swapna
Roy and Subrata Roy.

The wedding was held at the Sahara Auditorium. The baaraat proceeded by car from
Swapna Kuti, then assembled at the Township's Helipad and from there proceeded towards the
auditorium.
The Ladies
Sangeet was held at Hotel Clarks Awadh.
In the
evenings there were a host of activities at the Fun World Ground of the township.
Who
welcomed the Guests
Subrata Roy and five powerful Indians. Business Tycoon Anil Ambani, Politician Mulayam
Singh Yadav, Cricket sensation Kapil Dev, Superstar Amitabh Bachhan, and Celluloid queen
Aishwarya Rai .

Highlights of the Occasion
To celebrate this occasion and as an emotional endeavour of the Sahara Group, the Samuhik
Vivah Samaroh witnessed the kanyadaan of 101 under-privileged girls belonging to Hindu,
Muslim, Sikh and Christian communities. The arrangements for the marriages were made at
101 mandaps
As a part of the festivities,
more than a lakh and forty thousand beggars were distributed food across the country.
Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray
left Mumbai after almost a decade to be a part of this special celebration.
Almost the entire senior
bureaucracy from UP (over 900 IAS/IPS officials) were present during the wedding ceremony.
The
Dress Designers
Sushanto's outfit was designed by Rohit Bal. Young designing sensation Sabyasachi Das from
Calcutta designed Seemanto's wear as also the stunning creations for both the Brides.
The
Décor
The fragrance of perfumes and flowers permeated the auditorium and the melodious strains
of a musical piece with the chanting of mantras (composed by Aadesh Shrivastava) created a
perfect ceremonial ambience.

At the
entrance of Sahara Shaher, a huge gate aptly named Bandhanwaar with two pillars on either
side was erected. The seven sacred vows of marriage were engraved on the pillars, from top
to bottom.
In the hues of the evening
dusk, the pathways within Sahara Shaher shone bright with a host of mashals, torch lights,
lamps, wax 'handis' and prism glasses.
The
Cuisine
The majestic dinner had as many as 110 types of cuisines which included Indian, Mexican,
Italian, Mongolian, Lebanese, Chinese and American.
The cuisine was managed by
Chef Hemant Oberoi and his team from the Taj Group of Hotels.
The
Entertainment
There was a soul-stirring musical extravaganza by 121 musicians of a British Symphony
orchestra group from Birmingham. What took everyone by surprise was that the British
Symphony orchestra played over 20 Hindi film and patriotic songs including 'Bande
Mataram
', 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha
' popular songs like 'Mera Juta Hai
Japani
', and marriage numbers like 'Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna
', 'Le Jayenge Le
Jayenge Dilwale
..' and 'Roop Hai Tera Sona Sona

Artistes from
U.K. gave a series of Flamingo Dance, Classical Ballet Dance and Tap Dance recitals.
There was a unique
Heliosphere act with artistes performing acrobatics suspended from Helium gas-filled
balloons.
Noted choreographer Shiamak
Davar and his troupe gave a scintillating dance recital that was pulsating in its rhythmic
robustness.
Behind
the Scenes
E-factor looked after the
decoration of the entire venue with mashaals and other accessories.
Back Stage Productions
looked after the construction of alcoves (huts) and chatris behind 'Bharat Maa' chabi.
Mumbai's wedding décor
queen Gurlein Manchanda,
decorated the entire mandap and auditorium in a fusion of traditional and contemporary
style.

Pink Rose Apparel, looked
after the decorations in the route leading from the helipad to the wedding venue.
Aucky looked after the
decoration in the rooms with ethnic bandhanwaars.
Paramount Flora and Ferns
and Petals provided tonnes of flowers to adorn the entire venue that was bedecked in
numerous fragrances.
The mega event was captured
on celluloid by noted Bollywood Director Raj Kumar Santoshi.
