Candid wedding photography is an established trend now. Brides and
grooms today have an evolved artistic sense and are keen on candid and
journalistic photography of their most memorable days. I also take
lots of posed photographs in weddings, but I try to capture some
beautiful moments even in that - maybe by just changing the camera
angle or by utilising the available light source differently or maybe,
just by sharing a joke I try to generate some real expressions in
them.
I am a designer in the profession since the last 25 years, so
designing is my strong forte. Designing of photobooks, photoshows and
websites are done in-house under my direct supervision and many a
times by myself.
I get my photobooks printed on Kodak photo paper (mostly Luminous) and
get them printed by Kodak certified printers only. They are all
UV-coated and bound in high quality full-flat format to enhance the
longevity of the photobooks.
I shoot only in RAW format. That helps me to capture unprocessed and
uncompressed photographs from the camera. This is little technical,
but just to make things simple, RAW image file sizes are 15-25 MB
while the Hi-res JPEG files are 5-8 MB. So, lots of additional
information about the exposure, white-balance etc are stored in RAW
files which can be recovered and adjusted later on, during
post-processing without compromising with the image quality.
Most of all, I do the photography myself. This means, when people hire
me, I am there personally to get them the best possible photographs.
That’s why I accept only single assignment on a particular wedding
day. |

Both are important in my humble opinion. The pre and post-wedding photographs of the
couple are mostly posed. I carry my lights and backdrops to capture
some of these posed photographs - even in outdoors.
Posed photography does not
necessarily mean to click pictures of the subjects (bride, groom or
guests) as they pose. I share my concept behind the shot, tell a story to generate the required emotion and suggest them how to pose accordingly. The main advantage
of these kinds of directed posed photography is that I can plan a shot, use the
light sources the way I want and use my creativity to create
stunning photographs.
Candid photographs are to remind and regenerate
the emotions attached, while the directed posed photographs are for
framing, using in calendars and to wow everyone! |
