How They Met
Vishakha and Hari’s relationship started as friends when they were in Grade 8 and deepened into a romance during high school. After graduating, both travelled across the globe to pursue different careers that saw their love story take a pause. However, the couple managed to overcome all the hurdles in their paths and tied the knot 13 years later from the time they first met.

Wedding Venue
With guests flying in from the US, UK, Spain, Italy, Thailand, New Zealand and Brazil, Vishakha and Hari decided to host a city wedding for logistical convenience. All functions were held at different venues across the city. The grandeur of the luxurious ITC Grand Maratha was the perfect setting for the sangeet, while the couple tied the knot at the breezy beachside venue of Sun-n-Sand Hotel in Juhu.

Wedding Planning
After staying abroad for almost 10 years, the couple knew they wanted something modern with a traditional twist for their wedding. SATEC Events planned and executed their wedding festivities with flair, while Studio Riva Bubber captured all the special moments. Makeup artist Mabel D’Silva gave the bride flawless looks while her hair was styled beautifully by Meenal and Vishakha Sawant for the different functions.

Wedding Functions
Cocktail
The festivities kicked off with a black-tie cocktail event with a fusion Indian twist. With its rustic-chic decor and unique selection of food, the royal ambiance of Tanatan in Juhu gave the guests a glimpse into the richness of Indian culture as they swayed to Bollywood numbers. The bride donned a bold black gown with intricate gold embroidery which she accessorized with traditional ornaments by Golecha Jewellers, while the groom looked dapper in a black Tuxedo from CEO Rules.

Mehndi
With a backdrop of classic stone adornments and brick walls of Kino Cottage in Juhu, the mehndi was a breezy affair with a bohemian touch. Decor elements included Indian items such as chakris, an ethnic swing, bandhani dupattas, earthen pots, bells, colorful umbrellas and marigold blooms. A splash of pink, green and orange drapes added a bright vibe to the setup. The bride’s ensemble from Ritu Kumar matched the quirky vibe of the function, and she teamed it with customized floral ornaments by Neha Chokhani from Petal Craft.

Sangeet
The sangeet festivities were hosted at the majestic ballroom of ITC Grand Maratha, which mirrored the opulence of the event. The decor was conceptualized by Gurleen Puri to depict a fairytale winter wonderland, with exquisite floral arrangements and shimmering crystals. Vishakha was resplendent in an embellished, blush pink ball gown by Dolly J which contrasted with Hari’s black velvet Sabyasachi Mukherjee bandhgala that featured embroidered floral motifs.

Haldi
The haldi was a riot of color with vibrant kites, a live sugar cane juice counter, ice-cold counters, and so much more. A heady mix of a DJ spinning his tracks and a traditional drummer beating his drum had everyone grooving. However, the highlight of the celebrations was the flower shower which involved more than 165 kg of petals.

Wedding
With a fascination for elegant white weddings stemming from their time abroad, the couple wanted elements of white at their beach wedding. Vishakha wore an ivory and gold lehenga with chikankari embroidery and mukaish detailing by Tarun Tahiliani. Hari picked an ivory sherwani with intricate gold detailing by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Flanked by her bridesmaids carrying lotus diyas, the bride made a magical entry. Against the beautiful backdrop of a floral wreath in hues of white, pink and peach, the couple exchanged garlands, after which they slipped into traditional Punjabi outfits to take their pheras under a stunning mandap with a crystal canopy. Guests showered rose petals on Vishakha and Hari after the traditional ceremony.
