Wedding Planning - Jun 21, 2019
Guess what’s clicking with to-wed couples? Instagram! Yes, that’s right – the popular photo-sharing app has become a crucial resource for couples, events planners, and hotels. Thailand is one of the most popular destinations which has been showcased extensively on Instagram, especially when it comes to weddings. But which are the properties that are tried-and-tested jewels in this tropical paradise? We asked leading Indian wedding planners for their recommended Thailand hotels and resorts for that wow Insta-worthy wedding. Here, they share their choices based on celebrations they have orchestrated there.
Splash Beach Resort – Neha Gulati of Mantra Events
Neha of Mantra Events shares, “For me, the Splash Beach Resort in Phuket stands out because of its youthful vibe that it offers to its guests, which instantly matches the lively mood of an Indian wedding. We worked with Innaz Communique to plan Kunal Samtani’s wedding with Divya at this property, and everyone was left impressed by the way the property complemented the designs we created. The pheras, in particular, were a standout affair with a grand mandap on the edge of the waters. The imposing structure was decked with flowers in shades of pink, white, and lavender. This was one of the most romantic setups we have ever designed and it was a hit with everyone.”
JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa – Sagar Vasudeva of Wizkim Wedding Company
“In my opinion, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is one of Phuket’s most sought after destinations for an Indian wedding. The property has several stunning spaces for various events, and for a wedding ceremony the Lotus Pond, especially, makes for a picturesque setting. At a wedding that we hosted there, we created a mandap in the middle of the pond. The structure was decorated with light pink drapes, and white jali panels were used to connect the top of the four pillars. The canopy, floating above the lotus-covered water and against the pink skies as the sun began to set, looked picture-perfect.” shares Sagar of Wizkim Wedding Design and Styling.
Angsana Laguna Phuket – Keeran of Keeran The Wedding Planner
Angsana Laguna Phuket is a sprawling hotel resort that sits on the shores of Bang Tao Bay in Phuket. It’s always a pleasure to style wedding events at Angsana! From the pristine beaches of Bang Tao to the manmade Lake & Lagoon that surrounds the entire resort, Angsana makes for a beautiful setting! We hosted and styled Amar & Mitra’s Wedding in Angsana and it turned out to be a stunning affair. The Concept based around travel, included a Thai-themed welcome dinner, Tokyo-inspired after party, San Francisco- Under the sea inspired Mehendi, Pittsburg-Seattle Sangeet, Traditional South Indian Wedding with Banana Leaf Lunch, Empire State of Mind -New York inspired Reception, ending with a Parisien Champagne Brunch. Every venue of Angsana added to the exquisiteness of each of the celebrations.”
Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa – Devki Hemlani of I Do Etc.
Devki of I Do Etc. says, “A grand celebration calls for an impressive setting which one can find at Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa. For Naseha and Mashrur’s engagement hosted here, we created a beautiful backdrop of a castle. We created magic under the stars with a perfect proposal where a drone carried the engagement ring towards the couple. It was a fairytale affair, and this was followed by a colorful haldi ceremony the next morning. The sangeet had a ‘Mughal Mystic’ theme and used elements that added a modern twist to aesthetics evocative of the Mughals. On the wedding day, the beautiful bride arrived on a boat and made her way to the glorious mandap which lit up as soon as they said the words ‘Qubool Hai.’ The reception was conceptualized like a celebration in the skies with decor features that looked like clouds and dove-shaped elements hanging from the ceiling.”
Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa – Neha Mehrotra of Foreign Wedding Planners
“For those who have always dreamed of hosting the perfect beach wedding with pheras by the sea against the backdrop of beautiful amber skies along with the perfect sunset, we’d say Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa is the place to book. At Talisha and Neil’s recent wedding that we hosted there, we made use of all their distinctive venues which matched the moods of the various themes. The sangeet was all about bringing in the Middle-Eastern flavor to the Land of Smiles which we did through a Moroccan-themed affair. Richly-hued drapes, Moroccan lamps, and panels of jaali work, all came together beautifully for this event. The wedding against the open waters was steeped in elegance with its white color palette that was accented with lush foliage, while the reception was a regal affair with lots of drapes, flowers, and candles.” shares Neha of Foreign Wedding Planners.
Dusit Thani Hua Hin – Naree of Divine Events
Naree of Divine Events says, “We hosted a wedding at Dusit Thani Hua Hin that showcased diverse moods according to the versatility of the property. Be it an outdoor wedding ceremony, a Thai-themed sangeet inside the property’s ballroom, or a mesmerizing all-white engagement that was aglow with the light of crystal chandeliers, we had it all. Out of all the events hosted here, the most spellbinding one was the couple’s garlanding and pheras ceremonies that were hosted on the banks of a large water body that surrounded the lawns. The bride arrived in a boat for the garlanding that took place on a stage situated above the water, and the mandap was set up at the end of an aisle that connected this stage to the lawn. As the Vedic chants filled the air, and the sun set over the horizon, the atmosphere was truly incomparable.”
Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa – Sharan Hora, Ravina Sawhney and Ruchika Pawa of Pink Palki
The Pink Palki team shares, “A boisterous Indian wedding will find no backdrop more scenic than the Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa. We hosted Silkeena and Rahul’s wedding at this property and received a lot of positive feedback on the various setups that we created. The mehndi and the wedding were the functions that made big statements. The former was bursting with bright colors and made use of elements such as sunglasses and pineapples that were quintessentially tropical and extended a quirky vibe. The latter, on the other hand, was all about romance and sophistication. Pink and white were the colors that ruled this function, but we added a local touch to it by making use of leaves typical to Thailand, and the results were gorgeous!”
Novotel Hua Hin Cha Am Beach Resort And Spa – Ritu Lamba of Urbana Weddings & Events
“Hua Hin, Thailand’s premier beach resort town on the Gulf, in my opinion, is one of the finest places to marry in this country and properties that I would choose for their aesthetic quality are Novotel Hua Hin Cha Am Beach Resort And Spa, The Palayana Hua Hin and Avani+ Hua Hin Resort.
We recently hosted Vranda and Chirag’s wedding at the Novotel Hua Hin Cha Am Beach Resort And Spa and the beachfront retreat with picture-perfect views lent itself wonderfully to the upbeat vibe of all the events. Of all the functions we hosted there, the welcome dinner was the most enchanting. Themed ‘The Moon And The Sky’, the event saw decor elements such as lanterns, LED lamps and moon-like features which added an ethereal touch to the festivities” shares Ritu of Urbana Weddings & Events.
Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park – Shashi Pawa of Shanaya Celebrations
Shashi of Shanaya Celebrations shares, “Nikhil and Roshni’s wedding that we planned at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park was very different from most Indian weddings that Thailand sees. The couple chose to highlight the breathtaking cityscapes with the choice of their venue. The celebrations that we planned for them had an undeniable contemporary feel to it that was united with decor that epitomized romance. Be it the mehndi, sangeet, or the wedding, the functions were all about maintaining a modern stance and being true to the couple’s personalities.”
