Aditi Asthana and Sehej Chaddha, Fairmont Jaipur

Striking a fine balance between the bride and groom’s distinct cultures, this wedding flaunted a vibrant and varied design story.

Planned and designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Stage Craft, Aditi Asthana and Sehej Chaddha’s wedding was envisioned as a cohesive, detail-driven celebration that brought together distinct cultural influences with ease. The team approached the wedding as a layered narrative, balancing contemporary aesthetics with rooted traditions, while ensuring that every moment felt meaningful to the couple.

Wedding Planning
Led by The Stage Craft, the planning process centred on creating a wedding that reflected both individuals equally. The brief called for a balance between modern and traditional elements, allowing each function to carry its own identity while still feeling part of a larger, unified story.
Every detail, from décor to guest experience, was designed with clarity and intention. As Pradeep Jaiswani from The Stage Craft shares, “It was about creating a sense of balance where both cultures and personalities could coexist naturally, without one overshadowing the other.”

Wedding Functions
Sangeet
The Sangeet was designed as a high-energy evening that brought together contrasting influences in a cohesive way. Drawing from the nostalgia of 80s street culture and the richness of Mughal design, the setting felt layered yet approachable, with a strong Punjabi influence shaping the mood of the night.
The groom’s entry on a charpai with his friends set a lively tone, immediately establishing the spirit of the celebration. The décor translated the bride’s brief into distinct, interactive elements. Vintage phone booths were installed for guests to record messages, while an auto-rickshaw photo installation added a familiar, playful touch. Rattan seating paired with velvet drapes introduced a mix of textures, and overhead chandeliers brought in a sense of scale and structure. Blue panel backdrops tied the entire space together, referencing a classic tent-house aesthetic.

Welcome Dinner
The welcome dinner was planned as a relaxed sundowner focused on bringing both families together in an easy, informal setting. With guests arriving from India and the United States, the intent was to create an environment that encouraged interaction. The décor combined a clean white base with accents inspired by Mexican aesthetics. Bright florals, fresh fruit elements, and printed lounge seating added colour without overwhelming the space. Overhead bulb lighting created a soft canopy effect, while candle-lit pathways added warmth as the evening progressed.
Interactive elements such as a caricature station and a DJ blending Indian classical sounds with contemporary music kept the atmosphere engaging. A playful moment during the groom’s entry, where he arrived in a wheelchair before revealing it as an April Fool’s prank, set a light tone for the evening.

Haldi and Mehndi
The Haldi and Mehndi ceremonies were conceptualised under the theme “Two Natures, Two Cultures”.
The base of the décor drew from elements usually found in the southern part of India, using fresh greens, natural materials, and simple, grounded textures to create an earthy setting. This was layered with Rajasthani details through the use of soft pinks, printed fabrics, and antique gold accents. Brass elements added depth, while the colour palette of yellows and oranges tied back to the essence of the Haldi ceremony.
“The focus was on maintaining the authenticity of both cultures while ensuring the space didn’t feel divided,” says Pradeep Jaiswani.

Wedding
The wedding day began with an Anand Karaj ceremony at the Gurudwara, where the couple honoured Sikh traditions in a setting defined by simplicity and spiritual focus. The evening transitioned into a Hindu wedding, beginning with a baraat that introduced a more playful and personalised tone. The groom’s arrival featured a customised ‘bar on wheels’, adding a light, informal element to the procession.
The mandap was designed in shades of red, symbolising prosperity and commitment. An unexpected storm disrupted the setup shortly before the rituals, but the team worked at lightning speed to restore the space. “Execution is tested in moments like these,” shares Pradeep Jaiswani. “The priority was to stay composed and ensure that the couple experienced the ceremony exactly as planned.” The mandap was reinstated with precision, allowing the rituals to proceed without compromise. The celebrations concluded with an indoor reception that carried forward the energy of the day. Live performances, music, and speeches shaped the evening, ending with a cake-cutting ceremony.
