Eva and Priyank, Portugal
Their wedding in a 16th-century garden was a historic prelude to their joyous future!
With rugged mountains, golden beaches and seemingly endless romantic venues, it’s little wonder that Portugal has been climbing up the popularity charts as one of the most desirable wedding destinations! Captivated by Portugal’s natural and architectural wonders, Eva and Priyank decided to tie the knot there. They flew there with their loved ones and close friends who enjoyed the festivities and novelty of the venues in this historic European country. Check out some highlights below.
The Proposal
Eva shares, “It was my father’s 60th birthday, and my family decided to go to South Africa together to celebrate this occasion. As soon as this was decided, Priyanka began working on his plan. Being the family travel planner, I had chalked out everything in detail about the trip. After three days of following my itinerary, my sisters demanded to stray from the plans and have high tea at The Twelve Apostles Hotel And Spa in Cape Town to which I begrudgingly agreed. Once there, I got too busy taking pictures to realize that the hostess was taking us on an unnecessary tour of the hotel. As soon as we reached the hotel gardens, I saw Priyank waiting there for me so that he could pop the question!”
Wedding Venue
“Priyank and had always wanted a destination wedding. A year prior to our big day, we happened to be traveling to Portugal and while we were there, we decided to check some potential venues. We fell in love with the history, architecture, and romance of each location. It was an unforgettable experience and we wanted to share it with our family and friends.”
Wedding Functions
Sangeet
Eva and Priyank decided to commence their wedding celebrations with an exciting sangeet at Forte da Cruz. The space was decorated using fresh florals and foliage in a way that highlighted its historic appeal. In the center of the venue sat a dance floor with a verdant backdrop that was decked with wooden frames. The couple swapped the traditional couple seating with a swing. White lanterns decorated with flowers were suspended from the ceiling and a book-style photo booth was placed at one end ballroom inviting guests to take a picture that would add to the couple’s story.
Haldi
The haldi was an intimate affair hosted at the Penha Longa Resort. The ceremony commenced at the property’s manicured gardens, for which the bride chose to wear a yellow lehenga that she teamed with pretty floral jewellery.
Wedding
For their wedding, Eva and Priyank shifted base to the Nuncio Garden. The enclosure in the middle of lush surroundings was transformed into a beautiful space for the celebration steeped in romance. The mandap enveloped in ferns and flowers sat at one end of the venue, and an aisle ran over the water feature, leading the couple to it. While the large peacock structures that flanked the canopy made for the focal point of the decor, the old walls festooned with verdant vines added to the nature-inspired decor setup.
The bride arrived for the ceremony in an orange lehenga by Anita Dongre, while the groom looked handsome in a sherwani by Tarun Tahiliani.
Reception
Their enchanting reception unfolded at one of Portugal’s most mesmerizing venues overlooking the River Tagus, the Sud Lisboa. White floral arrangements placed alongside candles that cast a golden glow brought the venue to life. The elegant setup welcomed the newlyweds to share their first dance on a floor above which floated an elaborate floral installation. While the bride looked stunning as twirled in her Shantanu & Nikhil ensemble, the groom was dapper in his Hugo Boss tuxedo.
