Saloni, JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar
With WeddingSutra favourites by her side, Saloni imagines what she would like on her wedding day.
WeddingSutra, in collaboration with AZVA and Lakmé Absolute, brings you WeddingSutra on Location – a curated showcase of top bridal trends and style statements from some of the WeddingSutra Favorites.
WeddingSutra’s most popular bridal initiative ‘WeddingSutra On Location’ took place in the lush environs of JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar. In the second of this three-part series, Saloni gives into her bridal fancies and emerges looking like the most beautiful version of herself ready to say ‘I do’.
Saloni started with gold. Specifically, the 22-karat, handcrafted fine gold jewellery from AZVA. The inspiration for her look flowed from the choker and ring she chose. And what a look it was. The warm tones of her jewellery were perfectly offset by her cool, powder blue Chamee and Palak lehenga. Makeup artist Sejal Sachnakul of Makeovers by Sejal then gave her a bridal makeover with products by Lakmé Absolute and teased her raven locks into loose ringlets. Photographer Kartik Bhagat of Dream Diaries was on his feet all day ensuring every candid emotion was preserved with care, allowing Saloni to revisit this day whenever her heart desires.
Saloni’s personal preference lies in the traditional designs but she decided to push the envelope a bit with her Chamee and Palak outfit that blends ethnic and contemporary design sensibilities. She was pleasantly surprised. She said, “Let me start with how lovely the color was. It looked fresh and was perfect for a bright day. The soothing palette was made prettier with the intricate silver embroidery on the skirt. It may not have been something that I would have picked out for myself normally, but I’m glad I gave it a shot!”
She had already chosen a choker from AZVA. The intricate textures and relief work of the exquisitely handcrafted necklace surround seven floral diamond polki clusters inspired by the seven vows. Finished with a row of pearls, the polki set was all ‘bride’. To complement the necklace, Saloni wore a ring inspired by the seven vows concept too. The intricately crafted gold floral ring featured seven polki diamond petals that emerged from a gold center to create a modern floral motif. Looking at the jewellery, Saloni said, “The pieces went well with the outfit and were examples of fine craftsmanship. They helped bring in a little more of a traditional vibe to the mix and so tweaked the look closer to my primary ethnic fashion sense”
Makeup artist Sejal Sachnakul then stepped in and brought her A-game, leaving Saloni in awe of her work. She said, “She knew exactly what would work for my features and her work reflects her deep knowledge!” Saloni particularly liked the Lakmé Absolute lip color used, “The shade struck the correct balance between understated and bold.”
Through the day she was effortless in front of the camera. How? She revealed her secret, “It was so comfortable to shoot with Kartik and the WeddingSutra team. Everyone was so supportive that it automatically made me feel comfortable. I had such a great time!”
Saloni’s Look
Makeup artist Sejal Sachnakul focused on creating a luminous base for Saloni’s makeup and began by using the Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Foundation in Ivory Glow. To ensure that the foundation set well on her skin, she used the Lakmé Absolute White Intense Wet and Dry Compact. She then moved on to create bold eyes for Saloni using Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette – Gold and then lining her eyes with the Lakmé Absolute Forever Silk Eyeliner in Blacklast. For a little more depth, she coated her lashes with Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eyes Mascara. She then moved on to accentuate the high points of her face using Lakmé Absolute Moon-Lit Highlighter and completed the look by painting her lips using the Lakmé Absolute Argan Oil Lip Color in Caramel Custard.
