This star couple tied the knot at a private ceremony in Mumbai
The celebrations of one of the most awaited wedding of actors Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover tagged ‘The Monkey Wedding’ commenced on 29th of April 2016. With a total of four ceremonies – a pooja, mehndi, the wedding and a reception, the gorgeous couple hosted their close friends, family and colleagues from the film industry.
Pooja
The traditional Pooja was held at Bipasha’s home where Bipasha was dressed in a pink saree with kundan jewellery and the traditional ‘mukut’. The bride and her friends shared few sneak peeks from the ‘briddhi’ ceremony (Bengali tradition) that is performed by the father of the bride. Karan wore a white chikankari kurta to compliment Bipasha’s outfit. Bipasha was seen posing with the wedding favors.
Mehndi
Mumbai’s Villa 69 was studded with a mix of vintage Parisian and Indian style with a pastel pink backdrop and mogra florals for the Bollywood actress’ mehndi ceremony. Bipasha looked stunning in a pink and pistachio floral ensemble by Anushree Reddy and floral jewellery by Ceremonial Hues. She accessorized with a floral clutch by Princesse K. Karan walked in hand-in-hand with Bipasha in a Antar Agni ensemble.
Wedding
The country’s tallest hotel St. Regis Mumbai, located in Mumbai’s premier entertainment and commercial district of Lower Parel, played host to the Monkey Wedding on 30th of April. Bipasha donned a red and gold Sabyasachi Mukherjee lehenga saree for her Bengali-Punjabi-mix wedding at St. Regis Mumbai. She accesorized with a heavy mathapatti by Kishandas Jewellery and the traditional mukut and Bengali bridal makeup. Karan complimented Bipasha in a pearl white sherwani by Shyamli Arora. Karan added a fun element to his monkey wedding by entering the venue on a segway.
Reception
Post the wedding, the couple threw a reception party which was attended by Bollywood’s biggies like SRK, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, R Madhavan, Ranbir Kapoor, Abbas Mastan, Karan Kundra, Farah Ali Khan, Sushmita Sen, Sonam Kapoor, Tabu, Kunal Roy Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt with wife Maanyata, Shamita shetty with Raj Kundra, Dia mirza, Neha Dhupia, Madhur Bhandarkar, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bhushan Kumar. Chunky pandey, Rohit Shetty, Malaika Arora Khan, Riteish Deshmukh with wife Genelia, Sunil Grover, Drashti Dhami, Ravi Dubey and Sargun, Preity Zinta, Abhay and Bobby Deol. Bipasha wore a gold floor-grazing anarkali by Sabyasachi Mukherjee that was paired with a 35 layered necklace and earring set in the finest Basra pearls and ganthoons, strung with antique jadau pieces and emerald drops from Jaipur Jewels. The pink and white wedding cake was customized based on the monkey wedding theme with 2 monkey cake toppers.
