Kishwer Merchant and Suyyash Rai
After a social media frenzy leading up to the event, television actress Kishwer Merchant got married to her longtime boyfriend Suyyash Rai, in a glamorous wedding in Mumbai.
Kishwer met Suyyash on the sets of a popular daily soap, six years ago. Their constant conversations resulted in romantic dates and the couple’s long courtship ultimately led to a private civil wedding and a star-studded reception this year.
Bridesmaids Shoot
The wedding celebrations started with a fun shoot with Kishwer and her bridesmaids. Kishwer chose a beautiful red embroidered lehenga from Kalki while her girl squad picked beautiful cape gowns and peplum lehengas in pastels from the same brand. The girls just wanted to have fun on the shoot and the frolic was evident in the candid pictures.
Pre-wedding photoshoot
The couple’s pre-wedding shoot was by photographer Shivangi Kulkarni and told the story of an ethereal fairytale romance. Color-coordinated in shades of blue and pink, this celebrity couple showed their skill at being in front of the camera. First in a midnight blue gown and later in a blush lehenga by Kalki Fashion, Kishwer looked incredible while Suyyash was dapper in a black suit by Anish Ray.
Haldi and Mehndi
It was a traditional haldi ceremony for Kishwer, and was done according to North Indian customs, with her wearing a customary yellow saree, close friends and family members in tow. The Mehndi ceremony, however, had elements of quirky fun, as the bride happily posed for the shutterbugs in a cycle rickshaw, wearing a turquoise crop top and yellow dhoti pants from Kalki Fashion, complete with reflector sunglasses and a million dollar smile.
Sangeet
A night to remember! This good-looking couple took to the floor and danced the night away to a mix of Punjabi and popular Bollywood music on their sangeet night. The guest list included close family and friends and popular television actors like Karan Wahi, Ritvik Dhanjani, Surbhi Jyoti, Asha Negi and Pooja Gor among others. Kishwer shook a leg with her soon-to-be beau, in a traditional green sharara, her outfit accessorized with jewellery from Johri by Amaze Jewels to signify her Muslim lineage. Suyyash wore a blue sherwani, complete with a matching pagdi – looking every bit of a handsome Sikh groom.
Wedding
While the pre-wedding functions were celebrated with much aplomb and fanfare, the wedding itself was a private affair; the couple chose to solemnize their shaadi with a simple court marriage ritual. The bride wore a traditional red lehenga gifted to her by her close friend Prince Narula, whom she had met on the popular celebrity show- Big Boss.
Reception
The couple’s closest friends, television stars Ritvik Dhanjani and Karan Wahi hosted a reception in their honor. The guest list was the who’s who of the small screen – Krystal D Souza, Rimi Sen, Prince Narula, Yuvika Choudhary, Ravi Dubey with wife Sargun, Sukirti Khandpal, Keith Sequeira, Rochelle Rao, Karan Mehta and Nisha Rawal, Apoorva Agnihotri with wife Shilpa Saklani, Vahbiz Dorabjee, Vivian D’Sena, Rishabh Sinha and Shaleen Malhotra.
As the night progressed, there was a special surprise for the couple. Their mothers performed a dance sequence that left both Kishwer and Suyyash emotional and teary-eyed. Later, they got up and joined in with their mums and friends’ performances and enjoyed every moment of it.
Reception Look
Kishwer looked resplendent and every bit the blushing bride in minimal makeup, her hair in cascading waves to go with her princess-like peach ruffled lehenga by Gaurav Gupta, which was perfectly complemented the white and cream attire of the groom.
