Brijesh and Neelam made the most of their breathtaking wedding venue in Udaipur by hosting fun functions that were resplendent with gorgeous views and classy decor.
Captivated by Udaipur’s heritage, architecture, and charm, Londoner’s Brijesh and Neelam decided to celebrate their big day at the luxurious Radisson Blu Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa. Here, we share highlights of their wedding and some breathtaking pictures clicked by WeddingSutra Favorite – Mumbai & London based The VIP studio.
How We Met
Brijesh and Neelam first met during Navratri in October 2016. It was love at first sight for him. However, she didn’t share the same feeling straight away, so Brijesh turned on his charm. He broke the ice with Neelam via mutual friends and asked her out to dinner. That dinner date led to a few more, and after a time, they were inseparable.
Proposal
Brijesh decided to propose marriage to Neelam in April 2017 on a surprise trip to Italy. He told her it was a work trip and all the couples had to go. So, Neelam packed her bags, not knowing she was going to come back an engaged woman! Both families knew of Brijesh’s plans but pretended they had no clue. Once there, he brought her to a breathtaking island called Villa del Bablianello on Lake Como. Brijesh hired a part of the garden grounds for the proposal and also flew out a photographer from the UK to capture the special moments. He even carried a microphone in his pocket to record what was going to be said. At the right moment, he went down on one knee, with the lake, mountains, and greenery in the background. He presented Neelam with a stunning 1.9-carat diamond and asked her to marry him.
Wedding Venue
Brijesh and Neelam wanted something grand for their wedding. Keeping in mind their multiple wedding functions, they also wanted different spaces in the same venue which would make the logistics easier. They also wanted a venue with color, flexibility, a royal feel, and traditional heritage. Neelam’s father came across Radisson Blu Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa online. It ticked quite a few boxes for the couple and also had a rich history. The couple checked it out online and booked the hotel.
Wedding Functions
Pithi/Haldi
The venue for this event was decorated with floral elements, and the gorgeous background of the resort just added a regal touch. For each event, the couple wanted to wear outfits that would match in some small or big way. So, for this event, they wore ensembles featuring yellow, orange, pink and green hues all caught on camera by our favorite photographers who assisted us in every way possible to ensure the colours and themes planned would work in providing the best possible outcome!
Mehndi
For the mehndi, the couple picked dark colors such as blacks, gold, reds, and purples. They incorporated a Punjabi themed lunch for their guests to welcome them to India and their wedding festivities. They went for a bright and light vibe for the mehndi function, so that it was a fun-filled affair with dhol players and colorful outfits.
Sangeet
The couple mesmerized the guests with their beautiful performances at the sangeet. They used colors and elements that would help them achieve a royal vibe. They also had purple lights and decor arrangements that helped set the mood. For this function, Brijesh wore a navy blue jacket with an unusual cut and light pink pants, while Neelam donned a heavy modern pink and blue lehenga.
Wedding
The mandap was set up at a spot that was surrounded by stunning vistas, and the whole setup was straight out of a dream. The wedding ensembles of the couple were custom made in Mumbai. Brijeshwore an outfit with a royal vibe, detailed jewellery and a headpiece. Neelam, being a Gujarati, went for a custom-made Peshwai style saree with gold jewellery and a traditional ‘nath’ (nose ring). The idea was to be different but beautiful and elegant at the same time. Every bride (usually) wears a lehenga, but Neelam embraced and mastered a Maharashtrian look. She always dreamed of making an entry at her wedding in a ‘doli’ (palanquin), and she managed to do that. The groom entered in a lavish gold chariot accompanied by four white horses and an entourage, which left quite a mark!
Reception
The decor for this event was subtle as Neelam and Brijesh wanted to add a touch of glam to the otherwise muted setting. So, they used lots of florals, chandeliers and white drapes to create the backdrop of the stage. The whole vibe was elegant and romantic.
Advice for couples
“Be patient because what may seem important may not be as important a few days later.” Was the best advice we got from our photographer’s! They were so helpful. It’s really important to share a good rapport with your photo and video team, as that’s essentially the only physical memory you will be left with after the big day is over. The VIP Studio are the best in London & India and we think one of the best in the world! This is the 3rd wedding they’ve done in our family and how they continue to amaze us is unreal! They took the time to get to know us both and made our entire family and guests feel very much at ease. The photos are stunning and everyone loved that the whole team got involved and also celebrated with us. They bring such a positive energy with them and they even help break awkward tensions with funny jokes! Our advice to couples reading is book VIP and share your ideas and dreams with them!
