How They Met
They met at Carnegie Mellon University and soon found themselves building a life together in New York, where they continue to live today. With shared backgrounds in technology, Nikita and Rishi discovered early on that their paths aligned effortlessly. Raised with strong ties to Rajasthani and Punjabi traditions in New Jersey and Virginia, respectively, their journey over nine years was one of steady companionship and shared dreams.

The Proposal
Planned during a ski trip to Zermatt in February 2024, Rishi led Nikita to what she thought was a breakfast stop, only to redirect her to a helipad. A breathtaking flight around the Matterhorn ended on a secluded mountainside where he proposed. “It was an insane surprise,” Nikita shares. The celebrations continued with friends arriving that evening, followed by a rooftop engagement party in New York City set against the glow of the Empire State Building.

Wedding Planning
Every element of the wedding was approached with precision and personality by Naido Weddings, who translated the couple’s vision into a multi-day celebration where no detail felt incidental. As Konstantinos Tsoukalas from Naido Weddings shares, “The brief was clear; each event needed its own identity while still feeling like part of a cohesive story. From furniture to stationery, from florals to flow, everything had to reflect the couple while ensuring guests experienced something truly memorable at every turn.” The décor and florals were distinct for every function, with colour palettes and design elements carefully aligned to each event’s mood. Personalisation played a key role, woven subtly into details while ensuring seamless functionality and guest comfort remained paramount.

The culinary narrative echoed this thoughtful curation. Traditional Greek dishes from the hotel were paired with Indian classics. A dosa station at breakfast paid homage to Nikita’s favourite wedding ritual, while late-night indulgences included Maggi and chicken gyros. Signature cocktails added a personal touch, with spicy margaritas for Nikita and espresso martinis for Rishi.

Equally instrumental in preserving the spirit of the celebration were WeddingNama, whose unobtrusive yet evocative style ensured that every candid glance, every burst of laughter and every quiet, emotional exchange was documented with artistry.

Sangeet
For Nikita, the Sangeet was the emotional heart of the celebration, envisioned as a ‘sky full of stars’. The bride’s vision was translated into an enchanting setting where the entire open-air venue was draped in fairy lights, complemented by the soft glow of countless candles. The night unfolded with choreographed performances, music and dancing that carried on well past midnight.

Wedding
The ceremony took place on a Sunset Terrace, where a grand mandap framed the horizon. Adorned with blush and white florals interwoven with soft greenery, the structure exuded understated elegance. White garlands cascaded above the seating, while the aisle was lined with coordinated arrangements that led the way to the sacred space. Every ritual, from the baraat to the exchange of garlands and the pheras, was observed with care and reverence. The ceremony was rich with emotion, punctuated by moments of joy, including the playful shoe-stealing tradition that had guests cheering. As the sun dipped, guests gathered for cocktail hour at the Sunset Bar.
