Swati and Devesh posted their profiles on a matrimonial website little knowing that a few clicks would lead them to each other. Their nuptials in Udaipur, captured by WeddingSutra Favorites Once Upon a Time-Wedding Tales, was an intimate and endearing affair. Here, bride Swati shares highlights of the celebrations.

How We Met
“Our story is a mix of both arranged and love marriage elements. We connected through a matrimonial website where he managed his profile, while my father was in charge of mine. Once the requests were accepted, my father and Devesh had a 15-minute chat about marriage, life, and his future plans. I don’t know what magic he did, but my father soon gave him the green signal and passed his contact details. After some long conversations, our courtship period began! However, to avoid pressure and expectations from friends and family, we kept our relationship under wraps. And when we were sure of our decisions, we informed everyone with beaming smiles and welcomed an ocean of blessings that came our way.”

The Proposal
“Devesh went down on a knee and proposed marriage to me on my birthday and that too in front of my parents! It was so unexpected yet sweet; I wouldn’t have this special moment any other way.”

Wedding Venue
“Deciding the wedding venues was a challenging task as Devesh hails from New Delhi and I was based in Mumbai. So we had to pick a location that was convenient for both of us and our families. I had always wished for an intimate destination wedding with close family and friends. After extensive research, we came across the beautiful Chunda Palace in Udaipur which brought my vision to life with its royal decor, historical aura, and stylish venues.”

Wedding Planning
“Our wedding was orchestrated by Vings Events, and our invites were designed by Perfect Invites. The décor for each event was all about understated elegance. The Chunda Palace boasted of beautiful architecture. All that it needed to look magical was a touch of twinkling lights and bright flowers which accentuated its existing grandeur. As for the photography, we had Once Upon A Time – Wedding Tales meticulously capturing our cherished moments. Their passion and skills left us relieved and amazed.”

Wedding Functions

Mehndi
“Hosted in a palatial setting, the mehndi kickstarted the wedding festivities on a royal note! I prefer comfort and simplicity in my outfits, so I chose a peplum top and dhoti set from Manasi Khurana, while Devesh wore a red kurta from Manyavar.”

Sangeet
“We hosted a rocking sangeet after the mehndi. Our friends and family performed dance numbers at the event. However, what was truly special was when Devesh sang for the first time that night. And if he hadn’t won my heart before, he stole it away then! As for the attire, I chose to wear a turquoise gota patti lehenga from Sangeeta Swati, and Devesh wore an elegant cream sherwani which he got from Mohanlal Sons.”

Haldi
“My haldi ceremony was a radiant affair as it was a yellow-themed affair and included a stunning backdrop of marigold blooms. Everyone was smiling and I felt my vision of the function was converted to reality.”

Wedding
“For the wedding, I chose a Sabyasachi inspired lehenga from Om Prakash Jawaharlal, while Devesh looked suave in his gold sherwani from Manyavar.”

Reception
“Lastly, our reception was all things glamorous! Going with the royal feel, I chose a pastel outfit from Kalki, and Devesh picked his suit from Raymond Made to Measure.”

Advice for Couples
“I would suggest visualizing all your ideas as that will help you streamline your thoughts in the right direction. Also, make a list of things to do in a notebook or an Excel sheet. And lastly, avoid stress and enjoy every second of the celebrations. If planning everything feels like a headache, hire a wedding planner.”
