Zara and Dhruv at Angsana Laguna Phuket in Thailand
Zara and Dhruv's elegant wedding celebrations at the sprawling luxury Angsana Laguna Phuket resort in Thailand was high on vintage vibe, pastel power and stylish touches
Zara and Dhruv met each other while pursuing their graduate studies at a university in London. They started off as friends, and over time, started dating and fell in love. They decided to tie the knot in February 2015 and chose Angsana Laguna Phuket in Thailand as their wedding venue.
Wedding Venue
Zara and Dhruv’s dream destination beach wedding had to be at an impeccable venue as the bride’s parents were very particular about choosing a location that matched up to their artistic aesthetics.
After months of hunting around for suitable venues in Europe and other countries, they opted for the Angsana Laguna Phuket resort in Thailand. It provided the perfect setting for a dreamy destination wedding with its serene, scenic lagoons, direct access to the lovely Bang Tao beach, lush surroundings and well-trained hotel staff who had ample experience in managing Indian weddings. A free-form pool meandering through the peaceful 409-room resort added to the resort’s overall loveliness and guests could enjoy leisurely ferry rides over the lagoon if they so wished.
Cocktail Party and Wedding Decor
The festivities kicked off with a cocktail party with an ‘Old Hollywood Glamour’ vibe. Guests were transported back to a retro time with the vintage decor that comprised gorgeous pastel shades and tasteful accents. The entire lagoon was lit up with floating lanterns and white flowers. The retro vibe of the wedding celebrations was carried over to the entertainment too as the couple’s favorite band – Tidal Wave – were specially flown in from Goa to belt out popular tracks.
For the wedding ceremony, the decor was nothing short of picture-perfect. The white walkway to the beach-side mandap where the sunset wedding ceremony took place was festooned with lush floral arrangements and lit up by fairy lights and candles in glass hurricane holders. Elegant white chairs were symmetrically arranged in an amphitheater-style seating on both sides of the mandap. Blush pink drapes and a transparent canopy gave the mandap, a very minimalist yet stylish look. White wooden bride-and-groom chairs with dainty little bells matched the festive bouquets fixed on the four pillars of the mandap which offered an unbridled view of the beach and the blue Andaman Sea behind it.
