Tanisha Rahimtoola Agarwal
From breezy green to burnt orange, dramatic maroon to crystal white, bride Tanisha Rahimtoola Agarwal’s wedding trousseau included haute hues and ensembles by leading designers
The beautiful ramparts of the Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur were lit up with colorful wedding festivities when Tanisha Rahimtoola tied the knot with Nikhar Agarwal. Here, Tanisha shares details about her stunning jewellery and designer bridal ensembles for each function.
How we met
“Nikhar and I met in high school and eventually became the best of friends. Even though we were the closest of friends we never confessed to our growing fondness for each other. Our friends always thought that we’d end up together but we never took it seriously! Fortunately, our friendship took a romantic turn over time so we started dating, and tied the knot years later.”
Wedding Looks & Makeup
Mehndi
“For the mehndi, we had a colorful pastel theme in mind. The entire garden outside the Oberoi Udaivilas was transformed into a paper art paradise where we incorporated some colorful cloth canopies with paper flowers sewn across them. Since the mehndi had an overall effervescent vibe, I matched it with a burnt orange and mango yellow colored lehenga by Anamika Khanna that was vibrant with gorgeous gold embellishments. My mom took care of the jewellery styling for all my functions. She mixed and matched heirloom and designer jewellery pieces for my mehndi event.”
Sangeet
“For the sangeet, we had a fully illuminated center stage decorated with lots of fairy lights to give it a dreamy feel. We had planned on giving our sangeet function a touch of elegant Victorian décor by incorporating black lace, purple tablecloths, white flowers and candles. My mom chose a beautiful salmon pink Anamika Khanna ensemble for me which I accessorized it with statement diamond necklace and earrings to complete my modern-day ‘princess bride’ look.”
Sajjan Ghot
“The ‘Sajjan Ghot’ is a Marwari wedding ritual where close family members are invited for a sit-down dinner. Since it was a semi-formal function with our elderly family members, we incorporated a traditional vintage garden theme which was entirely done in colorful florals. I chose to go with an airy lime green embroidered Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla lehenga
Wedding
“I wanted to look my best for my ‘pheras’ and decided on wearing maroon for my special day. I wore a gorgeous maroon velvet Rohit Bal lehenga which had exquisite gold embroidery all across the skirt, net dupatta and short-sleeved blouse. The entire ensemble not only made me look great but was also extremely comfortable. For the jewellery, I selected a stunning kundan neckpiece with statement earrings, heavy bangles and a ‘maang tikka’ to complete my traditional bridal look with flair. I completely surrendered to makeup artist Namrata Soni for my bridal look as she understood my personality and tastes well. I wanted a natural yet glamorous look which she successfully executed with finesse and skill.”
Reception
“My reception was an intimate affair where my guests could just enjoy and let their hair down. Since I am a minimalist by nature, I chose to go with a white anarkali gown that was studded with Swarovski crystals and designed by Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla. I paired it with an heirloom diamond necklace set gifted to me by my in-laws.”
